Madhuri Dixit
Madhuri has been a popular Indian actress who has gained recognition for her performance in the films Hum Aapke Haiin Koun and Beta Saajan. In the 80s the actress began her acting career, and was famous for her role as Tezaab, in which she starred with an established actor Anil Kapooor. Then she appeared in the movie Dil in which she starred alongside Aamir Khan. Early on, as a child growing up in Mumbai's middle class she started to dance. She began acting when she was an infant and was struggling through a couple of years since the majority of her first films were flops. She finally found success, and then became one of the top actors in the Indian film industry. After her wedding, she took a break in her career before re-entering the film industry. Dixit played an important role as a lead actress in Gulaab Gang, a film that explores the struggles of women in India. Dixit has been nominated for fifteen Filmfare Awards, out of which she took home eight. Padma Shri is the fourth most prestigious civilian award in India. In addition, she is known for her charitable works.
